Hi,Our Lad started school last Sept. He was on SA plus in Nursery and had a 1-1 helper. He only went to Nursery for 3 mornings. We were so nervous about him starting school. We knew full time and not having a 1-1 was going to be a challenge. The Nursery we sent him to was on the same site as his school. They were brilliant at making more transition visits with him. He would go and sit in his new classes book corner with his helper and watch what was happening. We had a meeting before we started with the SENCO, helper in nursery and class teacher. We were able to talk about his needs and behaviours. They have other adopted children in the school and children with learning and physical difficulties. We discussed Lad being part time for a while as he was due to be full time. They understood about no photos and name on website. The school is one form entry, so small. Perfect for our Lad.On the walk home we pass the local park.Lad went up from Nursery with some of his friends. The school has a family feel. Everyone knows everyone else.Lad has flourished. The school keep us informed of any behavioural issues. We made it clear at the meeting that we wanted to know!!If you think a school has a good 'feeling', it will most likely be a good school for your child.
