Good morning, One of the strongest pieces of feedback we got from our survey about the new forums was that many of you found the current structure of the forums confusing and overwhelming. We will therefore be changing to the following structure which is simpler, easier to navigate and includes fewer boards: Groups Prospective adopters Adopters Adopters with birth children Single adopters LGBT adopters Parents of older adoptees Adopters with disabilities Transracial/religious/cultural adopters BME adopters Foster Carers Subjects Is adoption right for me? General Education Good News Difficult Times Resources & recommendations Discussions News, research, media requests Feedback on our website Members/Private boards SAAFA board Member to Member Messages from us. The changes will be made in the very early hours of Monday 24 February in order to minimise disruption. Threads from boards that are not included in the new structure will be moved into other boards...nothing will be lost. After the restructure we will introduce a way in which users can suggest and vote for new boards if people feel we are missing any. Thanks again for all your input. We’ll keep you updated on further progress when we have more news. All the best The Online Team

Ä°s it possible to improve the navigation within the boards....and just maybe get rid of these blue speech bubbles?

I never understood where the bubble idea came from, but now I know........!!!! The designers copied it from the apple iphone, there you have green bubbles, it does not bother me on the phone (as I rarely get text messages anyway, lol), it does bother me a lot on this message board. I need smileys as well, to fully express my deepest thoughts! Yellow smileys on blue would do nicely. But I dislike the blue back ground, it makes difficult reading. Now only get rid of the blue bubbles.......... progress is slow but this latest devopment is promising.

Please make the 'add new comment' box bigger - its ridiculous and not fit for purpose. At least use the width of the 'white bit'.

Agree. Especially when I use my phone - drives me potty.

Agree - the only good thing is that you have an edit button, so I can look at what I have written when I have posted it, then I can go in and edit it because you certainly can't easily do it in this little box (which I have now completely filled !)

Pleased to see these changes. Not sure it is enough for the large numbers of regular users who frequented the old boards to come back - still you never know.

Hello all, Thank you for the additional comments. They echo those we had in the survey and this has informed our plans going forward. As mentioned in an earlier thread (http://www.adoptionuk.org/forum-topic/archive-content-now-available) this is only the next step in a series of further developments. All the best, Online Team

Now we are at it, can you please remove the stupid -permalink- mention. Just the name of the autor is fine, or they are a perma, sperma or whatever link is only annoying to look at and not usefull.

I am delighted to see that AUK are now listening to what the members told them before this new board was commenced. My request, other than supporting those mentioned above, would be to ask if we can reduce the size of the print so we don't have to scroll down so far to read the whole of a message. I would be interested to hear how much it has cost to return the layout of the boards to the original format with the same headings we had previously. Now all we need is to get rid of the blue bubbles which are intensely irritating and to increase the size of this box so I can read all that I am typing.

I would like to see that I have a pm on the main board without having to remember to randomly have a look

So.... after all this faffing about.. AUK are actually doing what the members wanted all along before the days of this ridiculous new site? What a total waste of time, effort and money!

I may be about to get shot down but I hated the old board design and really like this version. Things could be streamlined and tweaked but it is much clearer these days. I even like the bubbles! For new members who only know this version of the site, I would imagine the anger directed at AUK comes as a bit if a surprise.

Yes, I am sure that new members will have no idea what many of us have gone through over the years about the development and restructuring of the AUK message boards. To be honest, I am not bothered about how my comments are viewed. I am coming from a different place to new people on here. The fact that AUK had all the information from many long-standing members a number of years ago, then ignored it and then decided to do something different.... and then have decided to make many of the alterations that we suggested years' ago, sticks in the throat of many of us. My point of view is as valid as anyone else's.
