Childminder worries !

pinkladyof66 June 20, 2013 19:41
My son is nearly 5 and will be starting school in September he has been with us for nearly 2 years I have been working part time for last year with son attending nursery 5 mornings and him being with a childminder 3 afternoons. he is the eldest there all seem to be under 2. he has had ups and downs with her some days brilliant behaviour and some bad. he lacks social skills so it is hard for him to interract with much younger children. He only wants to play however sometimes can be heavy handed and hurt the children (not intentionally). We have to try and find some after school care 2 nights for 2 hours each and also school holidays. We have found a new childminder who lives in our village and seems to be nice she has met him and he is going for a trial next week. We have told her all about him. her set up is slightly different in that she only has 1 young child and all the rest are after school and older than my son. She is willing to start school holidays with introduction which would mean we would give other childminder her notice. The other childminder seems as if she doesnt really want him there she always has negative things to say about him nothing good. Makes me really upset when we pick him up and it is all bad. he does have some good days but she never says any positives.I am not fretting and worrying as to whether new childminder will work out I know it is earl days but i have to work we are on limited wages and hubbies business not doing too well. Please does anyone have any thoughts. My son had gdd and speech and language problems. Thanks

Also he copes very well with different things going on and attends mainstream nursery 3 morning s when i work and on the days he goes to special needs nursery i am home. I will do drop off every morning to school and 2 days of childminder after school and the others hubbie pick up.I am just panicking all the time. he really is a kind hearted boy and loves to help and very loving but his un predictability and social skills really lets him down.he will be going to school initially with full time 1 - 1 but mainly because he needs to be heavily supervised at times.
