finance issues

I went to a meeting today with the sw and they had concerns about entering stage 2 because I don''t have a permanent contract at my new job. They said either prove you can manage on benefits or delay until you have a permanent contract.I just feel I just can''t delay any more as I have waited a long time already for various reasons (I can go into more detail on pm if anyone thinks it will help).I just really need some advice or someone to tell me where I get advice from. The sw suggested CAB so I can try them. Many thanks everyone!

Am I right in thinking you are single? It might sound tough but they are probably right to make sure you are thinking very hard about how you will manage financially. I'm sure you have so you just need to prove it to them. Can you give them a review of your career history, demonstrating that you have been in continous employment for X years, how long is your contract, what is the chance it will be renewed, how easy would it be for you to find another job if it wasn't? If worst came to worst, how would you manage, pay the mortgage/rent, do you have an emergency fund - how long could you manage on Job Seekers/Income SupportDemonstrate that you know what benefits are available to you - child benefit, tax credits,Not sure really how CAB could help at this stage - you know your outgoings - work out how you would cover them and show them, Whats the back up plan. Mine was fairlty drastic - sell the house and move to rented, but I would do it if I had to.Good luck

You can get an idea of what benefits you may be able to get via these "rough calculation tools":https://www.gov.uk/benefits-adviserhttp://www.entitledto.co.uk/http://www.turn2us.org.uk/
