Still waiting ...

Ladyface82 May 15, 2020 00:30

Hello All,

My partner and I have just hit the two year anniversay since we were approved at panel. In that time we have been trying to engage with our SW/LA and have also been proactive at trying to find matches on Linkmaker, but unfortunately have made very little progress.

Midway last year we were linked with a child, but ultimately this fell through during introductions but before matching panel (FTA case), and we were asked to take a 3 month break to help move past the trauma.

Since the adoption system restructure, we were hoping as more boroughs amalgamated that there would be more suitable cases for us locally, but there have been very few coming through out LA that are a match for us, and we continue to get turned down for our expressions of interest on Linkmaker with very little feedback. We even attend Exchange days where we can, but so far nothing has come of them either.

We were wondering how many other members have been waiting 2 or more years? And if anyone has any suggestions about what we can do to increase our chances of a match?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, just wondered if you keep your profile and childcare experience up to date? So FF's can see you are continuing to keep up the volunteering etc, I know we didn't stop ours until we literally went off for introductions. Also have you limited yourself to a very small selection of children you are willing to adopt for eg only wanting a boy under 2 with brown hair, are there other children you think you may be able to take on and adopt? Giving yourself a larger selection of children that may be suitable, I know in our area there were no children suitable for us whilst we were looking, I am mixed race. We ended up adopting a child miles from home.

I wish you good luck, your SW should hopefully have some sound advice for you. x
