Leaving NFS

hubelly January 26, 2014 13:37
Hi This message is for those users of the above adoption website that want to stay in touch! I am no longer a member and cannot see myself rejoining this group in the very near future.I would still recommend NFS for those at the very beginning of their journey. Best regards Hubelly

I have often felt sad that as soon as an LGBT prospective adopter posts on this site they are immediately signposted to NFS and we never see or hear from them again. Its a shame that NFS members seem to stick quite exclusively with the NFS community and don't give the rest of us the benefit of their experiences and insights.

My ten pence worth - I have to say I have found AUK far more supportive that NFS. I left NFS within a month of joining, mainly because they had no local support for us but secondly because the experience and support I've received from AUK has been much better. Obviously this is personal to me and everyone is different. We are a gay couple who are currently family finding and my need for advice is not about being a lesbian mum, it's about finding common group with any parent about the frustrations, heart ache, the excitement and the hard days. This is where I felt AUK was better than NFS, again just my experience. Having said that I do find it useful that AUK have a section for LGBT adopters :)

Hi all I just wanted to say that i left NFS as i felt almost like i had "run my course" with the group and that something happened that cemented my decision to leave. As i have said before i still think its a great group to join when you are at the beginning of your journey but as fox says "it's about finding common group with any parent about the frustrations, heart ache, the excitement and the hard days" I feel the same sentiment so onwards and upwards! Hope all are well Regards Hubelly
