Bereavement in family

Hello. I am new at the siteMy husband and I are in the early stages of adopting. Awaiting references and the police checks etc.My elderly mum who was in a care home has recently passed away, this was expected and I am now worried the bereavement will hold up the process Does anyone know?Thank you

It delayed us going to panel by 6 months (my Dad died just before our panel date).

Abe I am sorry you have lost your mum. at this time do not worry, even if it seems impossible to imagine putting off the adoption process - if you want to adopt this time will pass. I felt in a hurry too, I still do, but the process will happen, you will succeed in adopting if that is what you want. Your social worker will want you take a bit of time...it will be more stressful if you try and argue you don't need it....just give your self a couple of months. It'll be ok. Mudlark
