Breast cancer and spinal injury

bearcat January 6, 2010 17:55
Hi there,My husband has a spinal injury that confines him to a wheelchair. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year following our first round of IVF. I''m exploring options for having children and am concerned that the combination of me being a breast cancer survivor and my husband a wheelchair user may make us ineligible to adopt. My husband is the most inspiring, active person you could imagine and I myself have been given a relatively good outlook but complete my treatment in summer, so I realise that most agencies would want us to wait until a few years after that by which time we''d be in our 40s.Does anyone have any experience of this sort of situation - I''ve seen posts from people where one partner has medical challenges, but not both. Do you know if adoption agencies will place restrictions on us or will view us unfavourably? Thanks so muchLisa

difficult to predict what agencies will say, but phone a few to see is probably the easiest wayl
