Well, it hasn't been easy to set up a new profile on this forum but...

...am sure we'll get used to it! I'm struggling a bit at the moment: trying to renovate a house and negotiate a new role at work, and at the same time coping with the day-to-day challenges of being an adoptive parent. No time at all for me to relax and have fun... all a bit grim, really

I agree Clr1, this was a challenge, not certain if I have set up my profile right, or about the access to the other parts of the Forum. A little nervous about what information is shared on the public site?? Any way I am pretty much in the same boat as you, no time to relax or have much fun, my AD is struggling with school and life in general. I used to read the forum now and again as it helps to know others are in a similar situation, or have been and have come through it with some words of wisdom. I hope the new site doesn't deter people, although posts had slowed down a lot recently. Sometimes it's hard work isn't it? Not just your normal day to day parenting but trying to get everyone else on board to get things moving in a more positive direction. Hope things pick up for you soon x

Thank you. We have been given animal photos to accompany our posts. I"m going to see if I can change mine. Maybe a sloth as I try really hard but make so little headway. Or a worker ant...

I think this could work well. It's nice having the Linkmaker security and technical competence but the route via AUK as well.

My green tick seems to have come from me logging in initially via Linkmaker. But now I can't log in via AUK because I can't remember my membership number there!

Would anyone like to send me a chat message to see if I can chat back....

I am not sure if I have done the right thing either. I certainly couldn’t register with my previous (Adoption UK) user name. I didn’t want to change username either but Link Maker didn’t accept my previous username as saying “unavailable”. I just realised my name is Adopters!!!! I don’t know how to change it back to my previous!

I struggled too. The way I understand it, if you gave your old Adoption Uk username as your linkmaker username during registration, then you can't use it as your community name (the name under which you post). The "community name" is what Adoption UK called a "username", which is confusing.

For Sunny11 ~ everything under the "Adoption UK" "public forums" tab is visible to the world. So former Linkmaker users who may have from time to time revealed more private/personal info via the Q&A / chat facilities (knowing that the readers have been verified by an SW) will have to be careful not to mix up the two.

I assume that the general public can register for the public forums for AUK as previously. There is no private message facility/tab via the AUK link though?? Presumably the "chat" facility via Linkmaker is only for people who are confirmed to be in the system as prospective adopters or adopters? [Hmm, the chat facility might be open to all??]
