Hello, New to AUK

Just a brief message to say hello, My partner and I are a gay male couple and attended a local information event last week and came away having booked an initial home visit in 2 weeks time! We have spent all evening trying to go through all the questions we will be asked and preparing answers. Does anyone here have any advice re: the initial home visit? We are quite anxious. Thank you in advance, Robin

Hi No need to be anxious (not that that will stop you). All prospective adopters out there are very much needed and although I was there a long time ago - a good agency/ LA will make you feel very comfortable because they need you . HOWEVER, I would strongly suggest that you change your username if you have used your real name - you may wish to discuss things here which may be a bit sensitive should you go through with this and it has not been unknown for social workers to have a little looksey on these boards to see if the prospectives are worrying over stuff that they have not told/asked them about .

Hi there, welcome. Don't worry too much, take it at your own pace. Our visits were more like a conversation and not a Q & A session, even though, like you, we thought we needed to answers to every question with a well prepared answer. Good luck and if you have any questions do ask. Fox2013

Hi guys, Thanks for your comments, we are meeting up with some people we know who have adopted too. Just really eager to get the process started.
