Attachment Friendly Secondary schools around Twickenham

Hello

Can anyone recommend an attachment friendly school around the Twickenham area? We've heard great things about Richard Challoner in Kingston but it's still huge.

My daughter was at a special school which was very good - attachment aware - possibly by default but people came from well out of the area to attend - one adoptive family from Norfolk! I presume you’re looking for mainstream though?

Hello Safia

We are actually looking at mainstream schools with provisions and special schools. So be great to know which one it was.

I’m sorry I’ve no idea how to pm any more - it was Clarendon School which used to be in Hampton but I think has moved to the grounds of Richmond College - it’s a MLD school for pupils aged 7-16 (or was - things might have changed) - and had a huge range of needs amongst the kids - the staff were excellent but I think more through experience than specific training

Safia - thanks it's now beside Capella House in Twickenham. We'll have to take a look at it.

Hi River1963,

Not sure if this will help as it is a bit of a trek from you, but have a look at Moonhall School in Reigate. Although it is a dyslexic specialist school, they do deal with a wide range of conditions. They have just brought all their therapy in house and the new OT and SaLT are very attachment/developmental trauma aware. They have school buses running from Surbiton. They have junior and senior school provision. xx

Hi Windfalls,

Moonhall looks really inspiring. And classes of 12 perfect. Will give them a call especially if attachment aware. However, I am concerned the borough won't fund his place there unless he has a diagnosis of dyslexia. He has ADHD/high functioning ASD.

Has anyone a child at Richmond Park Academy or know a parent there? Just watched the video and was impressed. There's a SEMH provision.

Hi again

Am looking at a few others now too. Have you heard of Newman House at Greycourt school in Ham? It's the provision in a mainstream.
