Missing all the previous posts re: Adopter with birth children :-(

Glad to see this link now added- (many thanks) but disappointed that we are unable to access and reply to all the recent discussions. Some of the info (old and recent) in the Adopters with birth children section I found very helpful. Have also lost all the lovely encouraging messages sent to me privately and cannot remember the senders login names. Have been told these are unretrievable. Anyway, hope it wont be too long before the forum fills with lost of interesting and helpful posts again.

It's sad about the pms - I did think of trying to copy and paste but didn't get round to it...Thanks for getting this section re-added.

Apparently the old posts will be transferred over in time. Doesn't sound like the private messages will be, though. You can still get to the old site (adoptionuk.org.uk) to see the old messages and copy your PMs.

You can PM if you click on the user name, the option is there. Zofia, CM

Thank you Zofia, but I can't find that option even when logged in. The usernames are just standard 'dead' type, and when I try and click them I can click the " perma link" but nothing happens.

Thanks for adding this section back in AUK - I would add a smiley face if I could!

Hi VV, I did post last week about our journey to date. I have a 9yr step son who is my wifes BC. We have one more home visit with our SW and have a coffee morning to go to in Sept. We have been very open and honest with him and discussed the pros and cons of adoption and have been suprised by BC responses and excitement. I hope your prep group went OK and you are progressing on your journey. Take Care. Biggers13

Thanks Biggers. It seems to be going well - I'm half way through prep now with a great group of people. It's emotional, exhausting but exciting too. I hope to include BD as much as possible, as you say. I hope your final home visit goes well :-)

Such a wealth of experience and advice has been lost since the archives have gone. There isnt much advice about for adopters with birth children. Im still gutted even though it happened months ago :-(
