I'm lost!

This is going to take some getting used to.

yep! I'm a bit stuck about where to post things as there is no 'adopters' board so I either have to have 'difficulties' or 'relationship problems' if it isn't 'good news'! There doesn't seem to be an interest group for prospective adopters either. Sorry to moan...I'm not very good with change.....

I use an iPad to go online and some of the website (tabs) is cut off - is going to take some getting used to!

Glad everyone else seems baffled..... Really very hard to navigate & as already said no real familiar boards/ topics....? Hope familiar posters are around....already spotted newbies.....great but where are everyone else!!!!! Apologies if some have new user names..... Maybe we need to remind ourselves who we were or simply ask for the old introduction thread back....

Am I missing something? Where have all the old posts gone? There was such a wealth of useful information, and most of the random questions that come into my head had already been answered.

I guess most of us don't like change. I don't like the format - I think the 'bubble boxes' take up too much room, too much scrolling down for my liking. Also, I'd like the front menu to be condensed so that all options could be visible. But that's just me!

Well, I was looking forward to the new website and was determined not to be negative before seeing it. AUK, here are my thoughts : 1) like Vicky Vixen I also use an iPad and the borders of the page are cut off annoyingly so I can't see all of it. 2) It's hard to see people's usernames quickly when reading threads 3). I like the cheerful and friendly colour scheme, BUT I don't like the style of Thread headings. I find it difficult to read white on pale blue. 4) I VERY much dislike the "jazzy" font style for thread headings. Yes it looks fun and friendly but its not that easy to read and how will it look when someone posts a longer title; and its also is not in keeping with some of the very serious posts people need to make - how will the title " possible sexual abuse " look in the new font? 5) there are too many overlaps between new areas for posts. Eg tough times and therapeutic parenting and older adopteees. As do children with disabilities and health issues. Sorry if I seem critical, it's meant to be constructive. A new style is nice but not at expense of practical use.

I know a lot of work has gone into this new design, but currently like others I am finding it difficult. With time hopefully I will find it easier! Like others I use an i pad so borders are cut off. I am having to do a lot of scrolling down to read what are currently quite short posts. I am unable to read through this comment to edit it.

Tried edit button after comment posted. Can do very little with it as I can't see all of my post in the comment box. Perhaps I need educating.

I've not been on here for a while and I'm gutted that all the really useful threads seem to have disappeared. There was a particularly useful one with advice from Foster Carers about Introductions. I'd love that back!

I think the "Notify" options will be a big help with keeping track of interesting threads. Am I right in thinking there is just one search facility which covers the site and forums?

I googled AUK and the brief description came up as "An adoption support charity covering the UK, with a public message board dedicated to lesbian and gay adopters, and prospective adopters." And I also can't see our promised member's only board. And I keep getting thrown back into the old site which still seems to be active. Teething problems I guess.

Just to agree with some of the constructive criticism. The font is totally inappropriate - it is not a site for children and it being "fun" is missing the point of the boards I feel. Basically I agree with most of what Sockthing and Littlemisscheerful have posted on the other items. I don't want the people who have worked hard on the site to feel we are just moaning but I do feel that the points made are important. If it turns out that only a few people feel the same and the majority don't then it is of course understandable that you can't please all the people all the time. However, if most comments are the same I would hope that the members views would be strongly considered. Thanks Adoption UK!

Hope by 'voting' I haven't done anything more then 'like' a post. I also am really missing the 'Prospective' and 'Adopters' board as ---along with the FC one, these are where I feel I can give most support. I know that we all find change difficult in our busy lives, but this new format seems to make life soooooo much more difficult. Am also missing the ability to read all the latest posts together.
