swimming and hair care

galapagos April 10, 2012 20:22
Hiya everyone, my DH and I are due to start intros soon with a dual heritage lo who has wonderful long curly locks; a combination of afro curls and straight hair. Please could someone advise me on how to care for her hair generally and more specifically when we go swimming as i do not want her hair to become brittle. My DH has similar hair but his is very very short so he doesnt know what to do!gx

If you live in or near a largish town there will often be specialist hairdressers and if you can find a suitable one they may offer lots of advice about hair carel

My lo goes swimming at least every week, before he goes I fill his hair with olive oil and I rinse it on the way out of the pool, but wait to get home to do a full wash, where I use shampoo (the only time I use shampoo on his hair) and then the Body Shop condition with no parabens, silicones or sulphates in it, it's the rain forest collection I think, then towel dry and add the same range hair butter. Then after he's dressed I rub another load of oil into his hair and scalp. He has the most beautiful 4-6mm curls.Every morning and evening he has a spray of water on his hair to dampen it and then I rub oil into it. It's part of the routine now he also has all his skin oiled or moisturised at the same time.
