Any other doctors here?

Charley and Kylie March 20, 2021 18:02

Hi adopters!

I’m a doctor in the NHS (for other doctors, I’m a registrar in Acute Medicine and about 2yrs off CCT). We’re at stage 1 at the moment; so a bit of a way to go!

I’d love to hear about the experience of other doctors who’ve adopted. In particular how you found it when you went back to work with variable shift patterns? Was this really difficult in terms of disrupting a routine when you did nights etc? Was there any option of being able to have a “phased” return whereby you didn’t do nights for a few more months?

Any other advice gladly received!

Hi Charley

We are both doctors, GP and Psych, so less shift work than you. More than happy to connect by email/ phone if you would like to chat more.

We are currently in the process for a 4th time, we have 3 adopted children 8, 6, 3 years old currently.

best wishes

Fi
