How's your weather? I'm in Scotland and we have deep snow. The two little dogs that I adopted from a refuge in Thailand are amazed! The cats are having difficulty using their cat door as the snow is piled up. It looks very beautiful. I do love my electric blanket so I'm cosy at night! Lily

We are all off work/college/school with few cars on the road and neighbours struggling to get out of the side streets onto the main road. Our teenage kids are walking to the supermarket this morning, dressed like they were going an expedition up the mountains ! ( younger one objected strongly to my suggestion that he might be glad of a hat but was seen heading off into the blizzard with jacket hood up at least )

It's beautiful! The prospect of walking little one to school in book day fancy dress was filling me with dread (we don't live in catchment'. When the 'school closed' text came i was so happy! Although not quite as happy as little one who hasn't had deep snow since being with us. The cat is just suspicious!

Just starting here. Two children just roused themselves. One still in his pit. Two dogs decidedly not snow dogs! One had to be pushed out to pee. One tried to hop without putting his feet on the ground. Both then went back to bed - mine!! Bird feeders filled so at least they’re being fed. And hubby has decided we need to ‘stock up’ so has gone to brave the shops! Crap wife here thought we were already sufficiently stocked but hey ho!

No snow day but school closed early, as AD was on an internal exclusion I had to go around school until I found her, school have decided a late open day tomorrow, I am listening out for a text to say school is closed. We got down to -6 during the day today so chilly winds and a lot of snow.

Lots here - we were in the Red Warning area but got relatively little yesterday and overnight, but have made up for it today....lots of drifting too and many local routes closed. DH works for a bakery and they are having a nightmare getting stuff to the shops - only planning on even trying half the stores tonight; today was less than that - shortage of bread here but can't get it out of the bakery to local shops.

Schools all half day today and closed tomorrow. Beautiful but bitterly cold snow outside, strong blizzard winds due. Rabbits have 2 pillows to snuggle up in now! The dog would rather stay inside ..... kids can't wait to sledge and build snowmen tomorrow. It's been 5 years since we could last do that! Grit in the car just in case though hoping not to venture out - don't want to skid into a telephone pole like last time :-0

Tomorrow will be our 3rd snow day!!! Struggling to cope as AS aged 9 and AD aged 10 have an extremely volatile relationship at the best of times and are best kept apart as much as possible. They have been forced to spend a lot of time together and it’s often been really ugly... We have had a few really good moments playing on he snow so I am choosing to focus on those...

Schools closed here for three days too (at this point I am so glad our kids are no longer at home as they would have really struggled) - local shops all out of fresh food and no deliveries getting through - roads not good at all - we are only a mile from the motorway which has stayed passable with care (with a 4x4), but many other roads have been closed by the police....if you get onto the motorway, sometimes you can't get off and if you do there is nowhere to go! Farmers have been great trying to clear local roads, but with six foot drifts that keep coming its a never ending job.

Third snow day here too, also in the red warning area. Our wee town has been all but cut off, no public transport, no deliveries, running out of fresh food at the shops, the local trunk road has been cut off in both directions at different times and today is the first day it's not been regarded as dangerous - we cannot get to our other local towns and villages at all. There are 8 feet drifts near us, but not on our road and we are fine and well stocked. I had to send the kids to their rooms separately for the first time this morning. But generally, I've allowed way more technology than I would which has kept things quiet and dog walking has been a life saver, both with and without the kids. I have the lurgy this morning though, so I suspect things might be less idyllic from here on in. Roll on Monday! *Edit - someone saw a bus at noon! Hooray!

No school today, snow drifts up to 10 inches, other areas you can still see the grass, we took the sledge out for a go, lots of hot chocolate when we got home. Been snowing again since 3 this afternoon and only just finished, plans for tomorrow are more sledging, more hot chocolate and a movie with popcorn in the late afternoon.

Snow day here yesterday and actually relaxed enough to calmly do some homework, a rare thing and enjoyed being able to help. However later large amount of anxiety as few friends due to celebrate birthday and extremely worried they would not be able to come. It thawed enough for friends to come, we are all now relaxing. Surprisingly for us this snow has caused a lot less problem than the last snow as the ice caused days of dangerous walking, but this was ok for walking on, was easier to shovel and is now starting to thaw. Hoping for those with a lot more snow than us, that yours melts soon

Between us all in this street, we have dug our way out to the main Rd which is clear ( it wasn't yesterday) and gritter has now been down it. As said, nice soft snow, quite fun to shovel as very light.Massive piles of it heaped up in gardens and pavements but slowly melting as temperature increases here. As2 went out sledging today with friend, in a local park, and came back more content and relaxed than he has been for a while. I think he needed the break from school, which I expect will return on Monday as the thaw here continues. Nearest supermarket now open and supplies in, but next one along still has a lot of empty shelves and no bread or milk. Come on Tesco, get the lorries out !! Saw my first train since Tuesday on nearby line today
