Intro book

Hi there,I am about to start creating Tomy talking photo books for two LOs (2 and 3). Has anyone got any recommendations as to what should go on each page? I''m also planning on doing laminated pictures of DH and me so they can have them around.I was also thinking of creating a story book but do you think this is overkill? A DVD has also been suggested. My temptation is to do everything so that whichever format they prefer they have got but what do you recommend?

Hi Munchkinmum,Not sure about Tomy book, maybe a photo of you outside your house to start off.Re: other ideasWe have made family books, scrap book style with pictures of us, the house and local places we hope to take them- abouve or below the photo we have wrote a caption. There are a few blank pages at the back of the book to add photos when we meet the minis during intros. I bought the book through FB. A page called memory-books, specialises in adoption family book covers.Yellow x

A tomy talking book and laminated photos worked very well for my LO. I think these were enough and that LO wouldn't have coped with any more (but every LO is different). And by the day I went to meet LO, they were familiar enough with my photo and voice to call me Mummy!!! My LO wasn't yet 2!!! I was advised my LO wouldn't sit still long enough to watch dvd!!! Little children may not be interested in a dvd as its not all colourful and full of music as cbeebies is (well, I guess it could be if you are very creative!!!).Best wishes,Minnie x

Our Tomy photo albums were very much in keeping with a kids story book, i.e. very short sentences and lots of repetition. I can't remember exactly how it went but was something like:"This is Mummy and Daddy" (pic of us waving)"Mummy says hello x" (pic of me)"hello x says Daddy" (pic of DH)"this is x's room" (pic of their room)"here is Mummy reading a story" (pic of that)"here is Daddy playing a game" (pic of that)"time for fun in the garden" (pic of garden and play equipment"Night night x, love you" (pic of both waving"All very basic and alternating mine and DH's voice so they got familiar with them both.We also did a short DVD involving some us and some puppets with a story line and music (directed by our creative friends!) as wanted to give them more chance to hear what we sounded like and see us moving around as well so it was more familiar. Both seemed to go down well and meant that LOs were familiar with us and the house for intros.Good luck and hope you have fun!

I like this very much. My husband and I are adopting a 17month old baby.

Munchkinmum, think DH must have always secretly wanted to be a kids TV presenter, grin!It was a lot of fun to make (although rather embarrassing!) and I wonder what the neighbours thought we were doing as we filmed a lot of it outside with the puppets!!One of our friends edited it together with Windows Movie Maker which actually didn't seem too complicated....Fond memories, LOs still like watching it. It was also good for filling in some time before matching panel when our heads were mince and we couldn't really think about anything other than LOs!!Good luck with your book, let me know if you'd like me to dig out the DVD script to give you some ideas....!
