Well done Simba! Hope it last longer than my sons which was about a week - but it kept making him late for school because the newsagent always turned up late - then one day he wasnât well and a âfriendâ went into the shop and offered to do his round and was given his job! My own paper round didnât even last a day as I got up in time then decided it wasnât for me and went back to bed!

Blimey, Serrakunda, I did a paper round back in the day (think I was 13, thatâs probably illegal now). Literally every time I go into our local supermarket/newsagent on a Saturday or Sunday, I spend a moment thinking about the poor b*ggers having to deliver the super-sized, super-supplemented weekend papers. Mind you, as a metropolitan 20-something, it felt like Iâd made it and a real marker of success to have a selection of weekend newspapers delivered to my home. Funnily enough, Iâm currently reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea (one of my favourites) with Little Girl (2) and Iâm having to explain to her that (in the olden days) people had milk and groceries delivered by people on floats or bikes rather than by white delivery van. Gah, Iâm so old I remember being envious of my next door neighbour children who had pop delivered every Thursday!

that is great news. My AD did a paper round for 6 months on Sundays. She was pleased to be able to give it up when we moved, but she didn't need too much help to stick with it much to my surprise. Think she was ready for a bit more responsibility and really liked the money! Needless to say, for the first 2 months it was a joint paper round.... but she did manage it by herself in the end.

he is 14, do you think I should charge him rent now he's earning? I'd accept a box of jaffa cakes a week - its the principle!

Well done Simba, I canât believe heâs already 14 turning into a young man. I think one box of Jaffa cakes would be reasonable with a review every six months to maybe two boxes and a bonus at Christmas.
