Lack of space

Hi,

I'm just wondering has any been able to adopt for the first, second or third time without having a spare bedroom?

I do know people who have adopted without each child being able to have their own room however there are often particular circumstances - child considered harder to place, a sibling of a child already with the family etc. Most though will ask for separate rooms - you can only ask. Different authorities have different rules! Of course, not all children are happy or able to share .. my three have always had their own rooms. Sharing wouldn’t have worked, particularly as they got older

We adopted without any spare rooms but this was over 20 years ago. AD slept with my eldest BD who was 20 at the time and AS who came 6 months later (full siblings) slept in our room as he had at FCs. We did have plans for a loft extension and did this about 6 months later - we had 2 BDs and one got married a few years later and one went to uni - everyone had their own room before long. The ACs were 2 1/4 and 14 mths when they came so it was quite appropriate to share

We adopted 2 siblings, girl and boy, some years ago and they had their own rooms. We adopted their sibling brother 2 years ago and he slept with us for about 2 months (he was little) and then moved to our daughter's room. Ideally we'd put the boys together but our daughter is better with going to sleep than our older son, so we didn't want everything kicking off sleepover style night after night. Our daughter also has the biggest room. They're still together now, but it will change in the future. Once she goes to secondary school, 2 years from now, we think she should have her own room, also because she's a girl, so we may then move everything around. She'll go to the smaller bedroom, we'll make it a nice girl's room and they boys have the bigger bedroom together. At least, that's the plan, but you know how it goes with plans...

We had no problem with LA about siblings sleeping together, but they are full siblings and the LA approached us to ask if we wanted to adopt him too.
