Panel looming but feeling disheartened

MommaBear August 10, 2013 17:13
Hello,I have a panel date for early September but am feeling pritty disheartened by it all at the moment. I have very little confidence in my SW and feel I have had to hassle her lots and she has left everything until last minute. She is on leave for half of August and only now meeting with references, family etc. I think my worry is that if she is this unorganised now, is she ever going to be able to find me a child. It''s so hard having no control over the process. Is it normal to feel like this? Feel I should be getting excited as panel gets closer but im not. I have no idea what to expect at panel other then awkward questions. Many thanks for reading my rant,MommaBear

HiEvery stage of the adoption proses is long and frustrating, I think we can all agree on that, but the outcome is worth it. And once approved at panel you only have to wait a short time before you can go to open days send your PAR to the consortium look in children who wait and speak to the family finder at your LA good luck at panel xxx

I know it can all be pretty frustrating at times but keep positive as at least panel is not that far away now. Panel is not too painful. They will give you any questions they have before you go in. There are alot of people in the room so it can feel a bit daunting but your social worker is there to support you. But also be prepared that the period after approval and waiting to be linked can be really frustrating. I hadn't prepared myself for that and found it difficult. ask your social worker how she will be keeping you posted about any enquiries that have been made about you and also let her/him know if you have made any enquiries yourself. Please feel free to PM me. I am a single adopter and my children have been with me for almost 5 months but I was approved in May last year so had quite a long wait.Good luck with it all
