1960s transracial adoptions - research request

Press and PR Officer March 9, 2012 14:37

Dear All, Please see below for a message from a producer researching transracial adoptions in the 1960s. Kind regards, Erika PenningtonPress & PR Officer-----Were you adopted between 1965 and 1969?If so, you may have been part of a Government-backed study which, for the first and only time explored what would happen when black, Asian and mixed race children were brought up within white families. Extensive files about the individuals involved are still held and can only be opened at the request of the people whose information they contain. If you do not know whether you were a part of the study, but do remember being interviewed between the ages of 10 and 14 about your experiences as a transracially adopted child then we would love to hear from you. Even if you were adopted in this timeframe and would simply like to know if you had been part of this study or not, please contact us.This is an exciting and unique opportunity for those involved to literally lift the lid on their adoption revealing a wealth of information that has been kept behind closed doors for almost half a century.October Films would like to make a film on the experiences of the people involved in this study. October is an award winning production company that specialises in documentaries that are sensitive to their subject matter. For more information see - http://www.octoberfilms.co.uk/By contacting us you are in no way agreeing to be a part of our film but we would love to talk to you in confidence and let you know about the information that we have found.Contact us at ---- EMAIL REDACTED ---- or call 020 7284 6868/ 07794 204 826
