Resources and Ideas for Families at home during Covid-19

BeckyAUK March 20, 2020 11:27

Hi everyone,

As schools are closing across the UK and many people are restricting social contact or self-isolating, I've noticed that social media is awash with offers of free online resources that families might find useful at this time.

We have listed a few ideas on our website here: https://www.adoptionuk.org/education-learning-resources but I thought it would be great to start a thread where we share links as it will be easier to add to and keep updated.

I'll make a start!

We Are Teachers is a website with a host of ideas, but this week they have posted this article with a long list of authors who will be doing read-alouds of their books: https://www.weareteachers.com/virtual-author-activities/
ChatterPack has published 2 great lists of online resources and activities:

The Council for Disabled Children has put together a list of resources to support parents in talking to their children about Coronavirus: https://councilfordisabledchildren.org.uk/news-opinion/news/coronavirus-support-parent-carers-and-children-young-people

Beacon House will be posting videos to support regulation and connection on their YouTube channel. The first one - Obstacle Courses - is already up.

Ok, that's a start - I'll be back with more - please add yours on this thread!

Todd Parr - reading from his books at 6pm every night on his Instagram account

Diversity has made all their online dance classes free until the 1st May - you can access them here: https://20dv.co.uk/

These are a little more fun and entertaining, but still educational :)

That's a great list Peartree - thanks! I love how they're scattered throughout the day - a bit of light relief for every moment.

Hi All,

We have been busy uploading a host of videos onto our YouTube channel - to help with Homeschooling. We will be doing more on managing anxiety and self care too, so please do stay tuned.

Hope you are all well at this time.

Best wishes,
Charlotte
