Single and want to adopt

Salerno March 15, 2021 17:47

Hi, I am 50 years old and single. Would like to know what are the chances to adopt a 1, 2, or 3 year old child?

Thanks

Hi what is the age gap between babies and adopters?

It varies depending on your circumstances. Often social workers will look for no more than a 45 year gap between child and parent but that’s flexible depending on many things. Ultimately the family finder will want to be reasonably sure that you’ll be around in the longer term for the child.

Age - again depends on what you offer a family finder. Support network, finances, your home, ability to be flexible, work and how much adoption leave you can take and then longer term work plans. Childcare for example? And how much uncertainty you’re prepared to deal with - the younger the child, the more unknowns around health, genetics. What abilities/disabilities do you feel you could manage for example?
