He's quite loud!

freedom1 September 2, 2021 19:24

This is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek post, but does anyone else find that their LO has a VERY loud voice the vast majority of the time? I know that it's a self-awareness thing, but I could hear my LO (who is now nearly 11, placed 7 years ago) at the end of the street - when he is talking normally. That's no exaggeration!

When asked in lots of different ways, and modelled to, the next two sentences are perfect before the volume slips back up.

His hearing has been checked at hospital and unfortunately I can't find a volume on his body anywhere. Apart from shoving handfuls of something in my ears to tone it down a bit, I'd really appreciate some reassurance from someone that they are going through the same thing. Or, should I say, "THEY ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING!"

Sorry, neighbours!

Yes, same here, (linked to self-awareness or regulation or sensory or that kind of thing). We have a standing joke that I remind them in a whisper "can you use your indoor voice" and they shout back "THIS IS MY INDOOR VOICE!!!!!!"

I always enjoyed school plays - proud parent of the only audible child........

Same here with the older boy (17), volume button always at the top! Funny enough small boy (5) has an indoor voice but up goes the volume when he is outside playing with other children!
