Adoption Barometer: Focus on FASD

BeckyAUK February 11, 2020 13:54

This year's Adoption Barometer survey is live. The In Focus topic this year is FASD, and early data is already revealing some of the challenges faced by adoptive families.

Awareness of FASD among prospective adopters and established adopters is high, but there are concerns around the level of information and training available. It is also clear that while considerable numbers of adopters were verbally told that their adopted child may have been exposed to alcohol in utero, considerably fewer adopters have written evidence of this.

We want to see a radical overhaul of the way that FASD is diagnosed and supported, in health, social care and education services. We want all adoptive parents to have the right information, and easy access to diagnostic services, but we need hard data to make a strong case to UK governments.

Can you help us to collect the data we need to drive change? The survey is open until March 3rd. Please lend us 20 minutes of your time, and let your views be known.
